How often have you heard someone say, “I just want to know what my purpose in life is?” or……”I just want to know why I am here?”…….Sound familiar. Could that someone be you? Perhaps a big part of our purpose is not to know, but rather to trust that whatever we are doing and whatever direction we are headed, we’re right where we’re supposed to be.
Maybe it’s just about being grateful for the mystery of life. To be grateful for all the experiences no matter how good, how bad, how pleasurable or how painful these experiences may be.
Throughout history there has been so much confusion and misery. And the confusion seems to be escalating at an ever increasing speed. Our society has gone through periods over and over again about wanting bigger, better, more. As a result - we seem to have gotten bigger, better and more insanity that is reflected in so many different ways. All we have to do is open our eyes and look around.
It’s in the wanting in life that can lead to the misery we are witness to. Also to violence, greed, lust, war, alcoholism, drug addiction, and so much of what we see as ours and others destructions. And yet, it could just be that the very things that seem to be destroying so many - could be the salvation of others. Those very things might be what are giving people their purpose in life to help others. Mostly - helping others to find meaning in their life.
A big part of the confusion people are experiencing is wanting more and more and more. How often do people make a decision of what they want in life, work very hard to get it, sacrifice for years, only to realize after obtaining their gold ring, that’s not what’s going to bring them happiness? And how much did some people give up in order to get all the things that were going to make them happy. Now, desiring to have nice things is not wrong or bad. It can be very good.
What can be bad is how much significance we place on these things. And what the motive for having these things are.
A lot of confusion is also due to people wanting to control the outcome of their lives. Sometimes you just have to surrender. To let go. To release. In the hustle and bustle of today’s world there will be times we try to control what’s going on around us. And it seems the more we attempt to control, the more things get out of control. And letting go of the outcome of our life will be the most difficult thing most people will ever attempt to do. Yet, in truly letting go, this is were we will find the deepest level of peace, serenity and happiness.
Have you ever wondered what it is that most people seem to desire in life? Think about that for a moment. ………… What is it you wish for more than anything else?………More than all the material riches in the world. ……….More than recognition……… more than fame???…….Happiness and peace seem to be at the top of the list. Happiness is a very personal experience. Ultimately ………happiness is really about freedom. Freedom to live a life of fulfillment. Freedom to express who we are, to love without restrictions. Where does this fulfillment come from? For those who have had a glimpse of this they know that ultimately it comes from having a higher being, or God, in there life. With God in our life all things seem to work out. We are more fulfilled and content regardless of what may be occurring outwardly.
Granted, with all the influences around us, it can be very easy to get sidetracked from our path by the seduction of success. What does that really mean? ……..Success? So many people are trying to achieve it and yet have they ever really taken the time to define what success means to them. Often, people get messed up by the journey they are on which will lead them to their illusion of success.
